not vaccinating and debate over which is the bigger risk. There’s not much of a debate. The vast majority of experts say the risks of not vaccinating far outweighs the risks involved in vaccinating.
The halachah is clearly that in medical matters, we follow the opinion of the majority of experts, and aren’t choshesh for the minority (or espouse conspiracy theories about the majority opinion).
The “psak” to not vaccinate simply doesn’t make sense.
That’s why the vast majority of poskim say to vaccinate. As to the small minority opinion, you’ll have to ask them.

I haven’t seen the numbers, but even if true, that means the outbreaks in previous years has been in other communities. This year, it’s in frum communities, so certainly more of interest to those who participate in discussions here.
Why all the hype?
Because people are dying or having permanent brain damage (due to the selfishness and obstinacy of the anti-vaxxers).
And kids are being left out of school because of their parents’ stupidity, selfishness, and obstinacy

November 30, 2018 1:40 pm at 1:40 pm in reply to: The world is in a state of Geula- and don’t misunderstand us! #1634722☕ DaasYochid ☕Participant1. What Hetter is there, in Shas or Poskim, for Yeshiva Bochurim to not daven a proper Chazaras HaShatz by Mincha? Now even if you’ll Taanah that back in Slabodka (where I think this minhag originated) they lived Toraso Umnaso, how does this apply in the US, where you have breaks for lunch and breakfast, and in some Yeshivas for Limmudei Chol. I find it hard to believe that you can’t find 5 minutes in a day to do a Chazaras Hashatz like the Chachamim decreed.
R’ Yaakov Kamenetzky is quoted as saying that the original takana to say chazaras hasha”tz was not made in a beis medrash, where the attendees generally know how to daven themselves. It was only made for shuls, where it is common to have people who need to be yotzei with the sha”tz.
Shacharis is different because of s’michas geulah lit’filah (at least according to the common minhag of starting t’filas lachash after kedusha).
You also don’t lose Birchas Kohanim at Mincha (I’m not sure if R’ Yaakov said this point).

Doomsday:
1. Mayo Clinic: “Encephalitis (en-sef-uh-LIE-tis) is inflammation of the brain. There are several causes, but the most common is viral infection.”
Some vaccines contain LIVE viruses. Other Vaccines contain known neurotoxins including mercury & aluminum. Children get multiple vaccines at once so they are getting both LIVE viruses & neurotoxins at once!Do you honestly believe that this even vaguely resembles a proof?

Absolute dangerous nonsense. No, you can’t do whatever you want to your children. It’s your G-d given responsibility to take care of them properly. It is therefore a halachic obligation to vaccinate them. You have no “right” to inflict your meshugas on them or on others’ children through exposure.

I agree, we’ll never convince the hard core anti-vaxxers.
We might be able to influence some people on the fence.
Even those we can’t convince might end up vaccinating their kids (as many have) simply because they need to in order to have them accepted into yeshiva/BY.
November 28, 2018 11:47 am at 11:47 am in reply to: The Anti-Vaxxers are Causing a Chillul Hashem #1632377☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantAs a parent, if a company is being sued for fraud regarding their product, why in the world would I want to give that product to my children?
Because you are halachically obligated to. You should want to, also, because it can prevent terrible diseases.
Does he send down imperfect babies to the world
Absolutely. Boys need bris milah.
As ubiquitin pointed out, a perfect baby would be self nourishing and wouldn’t need to eat. So yes, absolutely, He expects us to do certain things.
One of them is vaccinating.
November 28, 2018 7:45 am at 7:45 am in reply to: Studies on vaccines you might have missed.👨🔬💉🚫 #1632119☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantThe two numbers, as Health points out, aren’t contradictory. Besides the numbers being from different decades, let’s simply look at the CDC statement again:
“In the decade before 1963 when a vaccine became available, nearly all children got measles by the time they were 15 years of age. It is estimated 3 to 4 million people in the United States were infected each year. Also each year, among reported cases, an estimated 400 to 500 people died, 48,000 were hospitalized, and 1,000 suffered encephalitis (swelling of the brain) from measles.”
So an estimated 500 people died among the reported cases, not among the total estimated 3 to 4 million.
The total estimated cases and the total reported cases are two totally different numbers. To figure out the percentage, you need to use the number of reported cases of measles, not the total estimated cases, which assume many unreported cases.
The question is how many reported cases there were.
Guess what, on a different part of the CDC website, they write there were 500,000 reported cases. 500 deaths would be 1 in 1000.
Doomsday, you’re either lying by covering up the inconvenient facts, or more likely, you’ve been had by the anti vax websites and groups.
Either way, the whole premise of your “the CDC is lying” claim is totally false.
