Since your weight is causing the elevator to use more electricity, I don’t see a “Shabbos Elevator” being much different than going into a standard elevator and pushing the button for your floor on Shabbos.

It’s musser haskel. Even if a majority of the klal are engaged in sin, a vast majority can be all wrong and punished (even destroyed r’l, if necessary).

Don’t follow the majority. Do what’s right.

And if she (like probably over 99% of wives) never told her husband not to support her and she’ll keep her earnings, how will she give anyone ML or SM, considering that she owns nothing (and assuming she didn’t bring any possesions from prior to marriage) to give away?

Syag, thanks for your clarification. But HOW will you check that the story is correct (re: a molester or killer)? What about Levi Aron? Did you base your knowledge of what he did on media reports? How is that different than here? How do you know someone is really a molester? Do you ask a Rov?

With DF she is standing up in public and making all her statements loud and clear, directly and unambiguously.

Well, that’s a big if, 646. If they deem that a right they’ll facilitate it. But in all likelihood they won’t deem that right unless she agrees to follow the halachic process for the entire process.

No you don’t. All that’s needed is for a Sofer to write it, and for him to give it to her. It does not need to be certified by BD.

What you mean is that you want BD to issue a Court Order against him to give it to her. BD doesn’t issue orders as a “service”.

The most effective way is to overstay a tourist visa. Then lay low, and no one will bother you. And eventually they’ll be an alien amnesty, sooner or later, that’ll legalize your status.

AZ, most shidduchim are done by non-professional shadchanim. Even if NASI encourages professionals to push close in age shidduchim, most shidduchs will still not be affected by this effort.

As far as the hard numbers are concerned, at one time in our history, and in some communities not all that long ago, men sometimes had more than one wife. And I do not recall any halachic responsa or literature expressing any concern that this was resulting in some men being unable to get married (since other men were marrying more than one girl, thus leaving insufficient girls for other unlucky men.) It would thus seem logical that there were always more girls in the shidduch supply than boys, throughout our history.

Did it occur to anyone that, perhaps – just perhaps, Hashem designed the world so that boys generally have the upper hand in shidduchim? It seems to have been like that since time immerorial in the Jewish community. Just look back at our history and consider how dowries worked, where the girls side would need to provide the boy a dowry. And it’s called Hachnosos Kallah; for some reason it wasn’t generally known as Hachnosos Chosson.

People have a first amendment right to tell someone something, or even to yell. Constitutionally protected speech. You can see protesters and counter-protesters almost face-to-face, with police in between, yelling obscene comments at each other with no one getting arrested for verbal harassment.

Beis Din today is authorized by halacha to do so, but obviously cannot do so under non-Jewish rule and law (by force of the gentiles.) If the secular authorities empowered Beis Din to carry this out, they could do so today. Many times in Jewish history the non-Jewish authorities gave the Jewish community jurisdiction over fellow Jews to mandate Torah law.

For the very same reason today if a Beis Din orders a husband to issue his wife a divorce and he refuses, though they are empowered by halacha to beat him into submission — including in golus here in modern times, they simply cannot do so due to gentile law. Not too long ago, BD did have authority from the goyim to enforce their rule.
