You can do a theme according to color or according to an idea. Color is easy, get a clear bag, and choose a few items in the same color range, get a nice ribbon, and you have a beautiful shalach monos. Ideas: lunch, coffee break, healthy, or an idea according to what the kids (or adults) dress up as: Monkey- bananas, banana candy etc, yerushalmi – kugel, sunflower seeds etc. Good Luck and have fun.

I only do buffet. Too hard to serve, everyone shows up at different times and it’s easier this way. Everyone can serve their own kids, and people coming and going can help themselves as well. I usually put a salad or fruit cup on everyones place, then make trays of; kugle, rice, french fried, chicken nuggets, meat, franks ‘n blanks etc.

Smartcookie, you serious? Thats why they are at the gym. Can’t believe you would really mean that, but if it really bothers you, just don’t look. There is no way I would wear a skirt when working out (too hard to move around), and I hate to tell you I am not a size 6.

Sorry popa, even if it’s a women’s only reading, bringing children who can’t be quiet is not acceptable. The women have to hear the megila as well and if the children are making noise, (and the mothers are ignoring them, as tends to happen), then it’s not fair to everyone around. Leave them at home with someone who already heard or will hear later.

Just had this iscussion with someone in regard to Rebbeim. Ask boys who are in cheder if they stand up for their rebbeim. Most will tell you no. Not sure about the girls(we didn’t ask). I could not believe it. I don’t see why we can’t teach our kids this small act of kovod.

I have the Uppababy, and am thrilled with it. It has tons of features that the bugaboo doesn’t, like the big basket, the fact that it reclines with one hand, the hood, the depth of the seat, the fact that it closes with the seat in it etc. I really did not find that the bugabo wheeled any better. I love the way the uppababy wheels and goes up and down steps. I think at this point anyone who gets the bugaboo is doing it for the name.

My.02 my baby doesnt know the difference (well not the spit up part)? I definately do and I think it is much more comfortable for a baby in a bigger carriage vs an umbrella stroller. No, I don’t think one needs to spend $1000 but I do see the need for a good (bassinet) carriage for those who walk outdoors.

I am the middle child of a large family. I could say I had the “pleasure”? of being oldest too, because by the time I was a teenager none of my older siblings were around the house (married, yeshiva etc). There are joys to being oldest, joys to being middle and joys to being youngest. There are also hard parts to all three. The best part of being the middle is that I am one of the only ones who really knows all my sibilings well. The younger and older ones hardly lived in the same house at the same time. The worst part is ………

Ramat, you seem pretty worked up. We are talking about divorced people not married people. In a marriage there is still hope to fix it, so we wouldn’t place blame, but by they time they are divorced there is definately someone to blame. Not to say there aren’t times they are both at fault, but there is usually one side more at fault. (I’m sure whatever side you know would say the other side is at fault.)

Who knew babysitting could be such a touchy subject. Quite a few good points (and a few angry ones). Rezdy, I hear where you are coming from, but you have to understand the 10:30. Seems all the HS girls in Lkwd go to sleep right on time. There are times I make over a dozen phone calls and still don’t have a sitter, or the sitter cancels the day before. I think most ppl who call that day, have been trying to get babysitters, and just don’t find them. Yes, we know its a “zechus” to have you come to our house, thats why we pay you, and leave you the phone and nash. I have lots to say about the things babysitters have done that have left me scratching my head but……. I guess I should just say TY for doing me the favor of coming 😉

Every ebay item is different. Some are the cheapest on ebay, some you can get cheaper other places. Just be careful if you are not used to the site, there may be shipping charges or other things you don’t see. Be careful, if the price sounds too good to be true, it usually is.

Weight watchers is great. It teaches you to control yourself. You choose what you will be eating. And now fruit is free. You can do it for life and keep the weight off. I don’t like diets that you lose weight quickly but then gain it right back. This comes off slower but stays off.
