    we are friendly with a man in his early 4o’s and he put an ad in our daily list here in our neighborhood, for single, men and women to call him if they need places to eat for shabbat or chag, and he knows families that invite .we have him over once a month , because he made alot of friends in our area. thank you for posting and reminding us to reach out more.

    maybe this is a silly question, but since when does a sheva bracha dvar torah need to make someone look like a talmid chochom? usually something short and meaningful goes over better at sheva brachos. hatzlocha.

    not to speak about the actual weight, but try to keep lots of fresh veggies, cut up different salads on the table for nosh. show the kids you enjoy veggies and save the ice cream and chocolate for shabbos.

    with the exception of hatzolah, and pple with a very ill relative etc. , phones should be not heard in the shuls or beis medrash. finish davening, put away your tallis and teffilin, go outside the bldg. and you can check your email and messages.

    kids are kids and will love candy (and some adults also). we try to have a healthy breakfast, and have on the table during the day, a platter of vegies, salads, fruits. your family will choose what they want to eat, but have the healthy food available and in arms reach.

    maybe meds do help with certain weight loss, but I think its healthier to do, diet, excercise, vitamins. a blood test will tell you how your thyroid is working.

    there are plenty of half day programs where you can take courses, earn credits, and work part time. the world is full of wonder. you just have to knock on the door.

    toomuch00,wishing you all the best. your problem is not small compared to others. there are certain classes given in ny. for social skills etc.the main point here is to accept yourself as you are. you can learn certain pointers, but we have to accept ourselves.

    definitely call. sometimes the avail has a housefull of pple and cannot speak at lenghth. tell her you are thinking of her and after shiva call back and see how they are doing. the hardest time is after shiva when life tries to return to normal.

    there really is no ‘ONE SIZE FITS ALL’ with diets. a nutritionist is a good step if you are serious. groups help also because they really cheer you along. walking daily is a great way to start also.

    please listen to the other posters and call asap/ to that helpline. as they wrote, even just to speak. you should not be alone in that situation. you must protect your children from him. I am sure they do have shelters for families, and will help financially. . that is not the way to live your life ,in fear, you are not at fault at all for his problems.
