You can count the number of characters in those blocks of text

by counting the characters in the words (or digits in numbers),

counting how many of those are in each line, and counting the

number of lines manually (see how many are highlighted when

you press Page Down to do it much faster).

Btw I don’t think Hollywood actresses are percentage wise more attractive than frum girls. (I don’t know if that helps or hurts people’s harsh judgment of my pickiness)

If frum girls are considered a general population,

and actresses are considered to have been selected

from their own general population for attractiveness,

this would seem to indicate that you find a rather

    narrow range of people attractive…

You say that you didn’t want to divorce, but you did get divorced,

so your wife must have been the one who wanted the divorce.

You also say that you had to pay for the Get because you wanted it,

so presumably your wife didn’t want it or she would also have paid.

That would mean she wanted to get divorced, but did not want a Get,

which isn’t something one expects of a frum person…

Rav Mordechai Eliahu ruled that WW2 was Gog uMagog. When some people tried to convince him otherwise he told them that if they continued to disagree with him they would have to experience it. They withdrew their objections.

This has the troubling implication that the identity

of an event in a nevuah can actually be subjective,

i.e., if you don’t think [event X]=[nevuah Y], the nevuah

has not happened for you and still has to happen, but if

you do think so, then as far as you’re concerned, it is.

The story with the Chasam Sofer took place at a meeting with

a prospective son-in-law. IIRC, the version I heard implied

that he would have been displeased with any joke, no matter

what it was based on. In any case, we could say that the issue

is when someone says joke-based Torah, not when they make a Torah-based joke.

Some of the wonderful atheist leaders of the past century include: Hitler, Stalin, Mao Zedong, Pol Pot, Fidel Castro.

Those names have another thing in common – they were all dictators.

And how many current heads of state in the Western World are religious?

    Sanders has not actually proclaimed

Fair enough, but he refused to give s simple

(Should this thread be taken any more seriously than your other one?)

Your son will probably follow the sports his friends follow

regardless of your input. Unless you count fights in hockey,

no radio broadcasts of games include specifically objectionable material (although ads might). You might ask the question about

the games themselves, if you plan on taking him to any.

One of Shuvu’s books has a story about a family from Russia who

turned out to be descendants of the Chofetz Chaim. The mother was

aware that her (great-?)grandfather had been a respected rabbi.

If frumkeit or midos were a function of genetics (similar to whether one is left handed, or whether one is bald), what zechus would it be to do mitsvos?

A person might inherit certain traits, but he would have the

ability to go against them. “L’fum tza’aro agro” does mean

that whatever is easier earns less reward…

It’s possible that Santa Claus isn’t actually Chukas Akum because he’s a Coca-Cola invention, though I think something religious preceded that.

    Wikipedia:

The modern Santa Claus is derived from the British figure of Father Christmas, the Dutch figure of Sinterklaas, and Saint Nicholas, the historical Greek bishop and gift-giver of Myra. During the Christianization of Germanic Europe, this figure may also have absorbed elements of the god Odin, who was associated with the Germanic pagan midwinter event of Yule and led the Wild Hunt, a ghostly procession through the sky.
