    smartcookie:

So you disagree with “the chevra” who says that the Chassidish solution can apply to non-chassidim?

P.S. It is not crazy, it has to do with expectations and exposure.

In the Alter Heim, you came home from work (as a boy),& your father told you that you were engaged, and you asked to who?

And it worked, and they were happy (see: “do you love me”, Fiddler on the Roof).

    Caller ID.

Don’t say hello when picking up the phone, say good evening.

    and HANG UP!

If they don’t get, they will stop

(As opposed to if you (help) build it, they will come).

Sof Davar- don’t start. If you’re not Chassidish you’ll never understand.

If you can’t understand it, does the system still work?

And if it doesn’t, why suggest it? 😉

It may help to explain it (slowly, like to a child), and then people who “don’t understand” might take it seriously.

    Agree with J&W 22 (surprise):

The market (and that is all shidduchim is, a market) will function as it is supposed to do. Supply and demand. If the Shaddchanim drop out, a new method will come up. Supply will match with demand & equalibrium will be reached.

At this point equalibrium has been reached. There is more of a market for boys (for whatever reason, AZ or not) than girls. Greasing the rails more with more money will not make a difference on a Macro level, but it (just like if you are rich & beautiful) will help on a Micro level.

Yes, if half a billion people in China can prove that they have jobs waiting for them in the US, and will not be a burden to society (i.e. there is some sort of visa that disallows benefits of citizens, such as unenployment & healthcare) then I have no issues with them working in the US.

I think they should deport the illegal people. They’re turning our country into a non-English-speaking country and spreading dangerous diseases around and stealing your stuff.

I think they should deport the Jews. They’re turning our country into a non-English-speaking country and spreading dangerous diseases around and stealing your stuff.

I can just see where this logic is going.

I believe everyone in this world has the right to a better life, and the right to work towards it. As such, anyone who is willing to work and will not be a burden on the state should be allowed to do so (so that they will not be breaking the law, it should be legal).

    P.S. I am a US Citizen.

    I thought that either:

1: Parents of the school (voluntarily or in lieu of tuition) make the calls.

2: Individuals who want/need the extra money but stay at home (like Kollel wives) make the calls.

Not that it should be a business with a workplace and the whole shabang.

Has HaRav Shmuel Neiman ever worked in “The Workplace”? Most work gets done outside offices; its called a cubicle. (not my line, but a good one). 😉

I, for one, agree with cantoresq.

Sometimes it is worth getting beaten by Beis Din, or for the Ra’avad, starve.

And yes, in certain cases it should be encouraged. Health of the wife from STDs, for example, which a Bais Din may have no clue or may disbelieve.

Besides, I don’t think that will actually happen in the here and now. When Moshiach comes, he will create Shalom.

Unless you know of a case where Bais Din has beaten someone for not willing to comply (I was going to use a stronger term, but thought it might be blocked)?
