my wife told me to say that she tries very hard to stay face up the nights when she knows she needs her makeup to stay and in the morning her makeup is usually still on
also for lipstick, use liplock- 2 coats make it stay beautifully
hi refreshing this thread cuz its a big issue now. A Kallah got a CZ and asked the rav if she cud break the engagement cuz she felt it showed her in laws were very stingy. I x know details of if the inlaws cud really afford more but was a pretty serious case.
Can we change the minhag to something cheaper that will ahve the same significance? or maybe just instill values into the girls???
we got pizza today for lunch instead and it was fully baked! unlike other years when we got at night and it was slightly-or more!-doughy.
I took car services.
i had just gotten my license but wasnt comfortable in brooklyn(BP) with all the traffic and offensive driving so took a cab to solve the problem!
I told the girl before and I dont think she saw anything wrong with it!
popa- me too! it was a long day!!! kudos to my wife for putting up with me!

The line near my house was nowhere near as long as by sandy but there are a good 30 cars waiting for gas. I guess they’re scared after NYC ran out last time. Until Sandy, ppl didnt really believe that NYC cud really run out of gas. Now we know its a real possibility. I filled up recently so im not panicking but i wud fill up too if i didnt have enough for a few days.
dont get so technical.
we all know that adar is a time when the kids are expecting to have a good time and if we dont provide it for them, they will think of thier own hootinanny ideas!
its much safer this way if its just a harmless little prank with a good chap!
my rebbe in 8th grade had us all bring in baby pics around tu b’shvat time and he collected them and asked us to guess why he needed them. x tell us but then on rosh chodesh adar he gave out to each of us a t-shirt with out present school pic on the back and the baby pic on the front in big with our names!!! he told us that we only get shalach manos from him if we wear it on Purim when we go collecting!! My whole class wore them when we went aound collecting and it was a major hit that was a real joke on us! no harm done, but a lot of good cheer was added!
I can tell u personally I know that many of those limos are just good groups of boys who want to have fun on purim. NO drugs girls…. They take a lime cuz it makes them feel important and shticky!
I remember just a few years ago from my own collecting days and also from what I see around Boro Park. I x know what your sons group is like but most are just good kids having a grand time.January 8, 2013 1:18 am at 1:18 am in reply to: Should a rebbi participate in a kumzitz with his talmidim? #917773
of course he should and teachers should join thier students too- obviously, if the kids will get overly rowdy then not but otherwise, i think its a great way for a rebbe to show his class that hes not just capable of spouting lectures but can actually enjoy himself too!
u wear whatever your family wears. don’t make a issue out of it. or else just wear what u feel comfortable in but if you change what u had worn all along, be prepared to get comments from ppl.
I saw it too! was happening near 13 and 50 and New Utrecht was full of trailers from 53 until 46. whats going on?
Leider… those are great! i love the pizza one its so true I can see people actually saying that!
I think that eventhough many people dont belong to specific chassidusin, they still have a rav who they use as a moreh derech for them-just not part of an organized chassidus and they follow the minhagim they were taught at home
I think “click it!” is great and here are some others that might work:
the computer corridor….
I also like Tech talk as others mentioned.
we dip and then put on temples, on back of neck, and on eyes and by this we say “mitzvas hashem bara meiras einayim”.
I x know who we follow but this is how i grew up doing it.
When i saw the title I thought it would be asking about TUMS-like what u use for an upset stomach
Don’t attack me!!!! We are giving water cuz my wife decided and she says the bottle looks nice in the packaging. Please don’t get mad if u get water from anyone because many times the husbands dont have any say as to what goes into the shalach manos he is giving out-I know this from experience!
this is ridiculous!!! the book is a good classic book. Instead of banning it, they can just white-out/crossout that word. This is extreme!
any good ideas this year?
my cousin grew up yeshivish but got a little more modern as a teenager. He once got a job in a shop in a yiddish neighborhood and a kid asked his father, right in front of my cousin, “Is er a yid?” Of course my cousin understood and took off his koppel to show the kid
not understanding yiddish in a place where it is a common language-like BP or willi- can be catastrophic once the kids pick up on this.
working on my pc. sorry i cant help u!
its torture the other way around too cuz my sis-in law came as a kallh to our house not to sleep but for a meal and the whole meal was tense for everyone-trying to get everyome to be on their best behavior isnt easy!!!
its a good thing the giants won cuz if not a lot of people would’ve been very sad around here!
There are a lot of reasons why someone might forget their learning but not all are cuz of kasheh l’shickcha. some are more natural causes but one should be aware of them just the same
i think there are many that are only known to certain groups of people-like the people that daven in that shteibel
i think its something all children worry about but as adults we seem to be fully grown eventhough our siblings/friends inevidably at one point stepped over us.
(I x mean to mach aveck if there really is a source but i x think there is.)
i can figure out a few good reasons. jkFebruary 3, 2012 1:37 am at 1:37 am in reply to: Gourmet Glatt is finally opening (old Friedmans location 39th street) #850155

Girls( especially young ones) all love getting things that are personalized. If you know their houses well, you can buy each of them a bath towel with thier name.
Can you imagine of all the rain we’re getting today would be snow??!!!???
I would be a foot of snow for sure!
Chasi-gates- I dont mind the cold during the winter but having snow makes the little bit that it bothers me easier to bear.January 10, 2012 10:59 pm at 10:59 pm in reply to: Girls High School Curriculum: Maybe all the schools need to do this #870037

its a waste of time but if its not violent, i don’t think so. Unless it takes away from your concentration on davening and learning
Shucks! I missed it

The split of chasidish and orthodox had me rolling!
Does this apply in Brooklyn too?

Thank you Hashem!!!!
YOu can send me all your snow! 😉
if its assur to print a picture of the sun or moon, it must certainly be assur to print a picture of a person-will be considered a avoda zara. can someone explain the problem? Is a picture really considered a Tzelem???
I was in a similar quandry and took the lower paying job because if you spend an entire day feeling begrudged to your boss, you’ll never feel good and it will ruin the rest of your life, including family relations, friends…
Yes, crazybrit- rude would better describe the situation. I still can’t understand it but then again, i guess its good i cant
What number is a counterexample to this rule- “the square of all numbers is a positive number”
