There is no difference between the “right-wing”/Likud and the “left-wing”/Labor parties in Israel on social issues, as far as the Torah community is concerned. They are both the same junk.

Jewish Week just posted a story that Agudas Yisroel of America is going to sue the Bloomberg Administration in court if the Health Dept. passes a consent form on MBP.

Achdus, REGARDLESS of the cause, is a good thing.

Really? If we would, b’achdus, have a big party with mixed dancing and pritzus’dik people — all b’achdus — it would be “a good thing”?

A “U” in an “O” (i.e. a circle), is the kosher symbol for the Orthodox Union, the largest (by far) kosher cerifying agency in the United States. That symbol on a food product, indicates the product is kosher. The “P” next to the O-U symbol means the food product is not just kosher all-year round, but it is even Kosher-for-Passover use. (The 8 days of Passover has much more stringent kosher requirements.)

The “pareve” designation indicates it has no dairy or meat in the food product (and this can be consumed with either dairy or meat products.)

And, no, women do not go to a minyan for selichos and usually don’t say it altogether.

Actions do not determine rishus. Rishus is determined by a mindset.

    Actions DO determine rishus.

rob: That’s exactly my point. The Chasidim work without much of a secular education. And Chasidim are, B”H, no less poor than the Yeshivish oilem. So, actually, Chasidim are a good proof for not needing a secular education.

May I point out that the chassidische rebbes, by and large, counsel their chassidim to have a job.

I agree with rob! We should all follow the example of the Chasidim. They rarely go to college and even their elementary and high school secular studies programs are very minimal.

This would make Rav Shteinman and Rav Moshe very happy I think.

The working suspicion is that someone who has immediate and private access to these horrible sites, is liable to be suspected as possible having visited these forbidden sites.

If an eid is pasul he cannot be an eid for kiddushin.

And I’m sure he told him quietly and privately. That it is in the media is likely because he told someone what happened to him privately, and from there it spread. (And still none of the reports indicate who it happened to.)

The iphone has the capability to instantly and privately go to all strictly halachicly forbidden sites. And in Eretz Yisroel they have long been makpid to make sure the kehilla members do not have such a powerfully destructive device always on their belts.

Definitely avoid those anti-religious anti-Judaism YIVO and their ilk and those forbidden movies. They will not only not teach you Yiddish, but rather they will indoctrinate you with their anti-religious ideals. And what they teach is a dead dialect that no real people even use in real conversations, as opposed to the living Yiddish lived by hundreds of thousands of real, living, Torah Jews throughout the world (North America, South America, Europe and of course Israel.)

The only way to learn Yiddish, is to live it. Live it with those living Yiddish, not those dying anti-religious breeds. Definitely spend time in a frum Jewish neighborhood where Yiddish is the first or second language of the frum Jews. And read Torah true Yiddish books. Frum Yiddish books written for children can be very helpful in learning the language. And send your children (when you have) to Yiddish speaking Yeshivos and Beis Yaakovs.

apy: If he shouldn’t have been on there in the first place (and he shouldn’t have) and if he shouldn’t have sung the pruste songs he sung (and he shouldn’t have), that ends the discussion. It is entirely meaningless and irrelevant that “millions of non jewish viewers were impressed”. It is still a massive Chillel Shem Shamayim. Just as if he would have “impressed millions of non jewish viewers” by undergoing a baptism.
