Many of those who marry in Cyprus are halachikly Jewish but cannot cope with the treatment they get from the rabbanut.

Those who are not jewish and are of zerah yisroel ( jewish fathers)they are the ones he wants to help and be lienient towards.

I might have been a little extreme in my comments but the truth is that the yeshivas do not want to lose the weak students for they will lose the subsidies that they bring they also fear that the better ones too might leave so they must hold on it is sad to see so many young men aimlessly hanging around with foresight the rabbonnim have to find a solution to get them on their feet national service is a real option in making them better Yidden

the real issue is control by going to work or joining the army the bochrim are not under control of their rebbes or rabonim who lose the power and income that they control as long as they stay poor unskilled and in their mosdos they have control over them not a question of religion but of naked power

keep the boys poor and they serve the needs of the charaidi religious establishment it is all about money and power

As a religious Jew who tries to keep and do as many mitzvot as possible the only place would be or could be is to live and work in the Land thru farming and industry as well as protecting the gift we received by serving in the army so by definition I must be a zionist and a religious one at that

can somebody explain how dentures/ implants, and just plain fillings are not treif because we do not “kasher” our mouths with

boiling water or a blow torch

so once we gargle with boiling water between meat and milk and use a blow torch before pesach we are ok

enough of the chumrah of the month lets get the chometz out our hearts and pockets, and minds.

    chag kasher ve samaeach

I’ve spent some time reviewing the topic of when to observe a yahrtziet in a year with 2 Adars. There is a three way machloket (with many poskim holding each position) regarding which is the “real” Adar: the first (Rama), the second (Mechaber) or both (Gra). The Mishna B’rurah (568/41-42) says that if possible one should fast on both dates but as far as the right to lead services that is only in Adar I however kaddish should be said in both Adars. If fasting twice is not an option then Adar I is the primary.

sam2 you are confusing the Karaim with Shomronim the Karaim are a sect within Judaism who do not accept Tora she beal peh and only what is written or is explained by their “rabbies”

Shomronim on the other not Jewish (descendants of those from Yehuda) but are from according to their tradition from those remained from the kingdom of Yirael _northern kingdom they had in ancient times a bet mikdash that might have had an image of a yona

today they do not have either each year according to their calendar they celebrate Korban Pesach they have Kohanim as well they number today only a few hundred.

there were karaite communities in northern Europe, as well all over the middle east.

It would appear that our sefardic cousins/brothers had a different tradition in clothing

I cannot imagine the Ben Ish Chai or The Abuchatzaira dynasty in black caftans and straimals or western suits and borsalino it is true that today they imitate the western dress but the previous generations did not look like shetel yids but had their own traditional garb differing from location to location from the Atlantic coast to the center of Asia

so one may assume that we to “adopted clothing styles” along the long history of European exile

The problem us not only ice cream it is the Chief Rabbanut’s desire to be the posek for the Jewish world i.e. the giyur question, weddings officiated by American Orthodox Rabbis, persobnel status of olim etc. importing to Israel OU CHICKENS ETC it is also a question of “economics” there is a lot of money in the hechsher business.

The problem is loss of control once a bocher enters the army he is no longer under the direct control of his rav/yeshiva but an 19 year old officer, his place of learning looses the income his presence brought

the biggest fear is not those who are not suited for full time study will discover a different world and values. But that the best students will leave the yeshiva and become useful citizens by serving in the army and entering the economic life bringing an end to the cycle of poverty controlled by the yeshiva world.
