Also I personally don’t care what language the goyim speak here be it English or Spanish or what ever other language they want but for me Yiddish will always be the language that I perfer to speak.

How can you compare Yiddish to Spanish? I have nothing against spanish people and I myself speak a little Spanish but Yidden have always spoke a language different from the goyim even in Mitzrayim they spoke their own language and was one of the things that saved them.

Hi Aurora, I did not know that you are a woman. I think now that it is more important that you learn Yiddish because women don’t really need too much Hebrew except the basics like prayer and blessings. Like some of the other people here said that the best way to learn Yiddish is in a religious community that speaks Yiddish like Boro Park, Williamsburg or Monroe but unless you want a really chasidic neighborhood you may or may not like it but all the people are very nice and wood be very welcoming.

There are some mesechtos that are translated into Yiddish I think Megila, Sikah and a few others. I only seen them being used by a bucher with a shvacher kop. Chasidim generally use the Mesivta or blue art scroll gemurahs because they know LK well.

Rav Avigdor Miller ZT”L writes in one of his English sefarim that ivrit has no kedusha and is no different then speaking any other goyish sprach. He used to speak in Yiddish at home

Curiosity, “scholary Ivrit is the CLOSEST thing to LK” see even you admit it is not LK just the closest thing to it. Health was not saying it is not similar, it is just not real LK and therefore there is nothing holy about it. Ivrit is just a language that the zionists stole from LK.

I am a ger and know more then alot of FFB’s It does not take a lot today to become a “Rabbi” just get farherd in Yoreh De’ah, thats what smicha is. You don’t have to be a big Talmid Chucham to get the title “Rabbi”.

It is very important that you learn Hebrew ( Lashon Kodesh, not modern Hebrew (Ivrit) what they speak in the “State of Israel” which is not a Jewish language and has no Holiness) to be able to understand prayers and learning Torah.

I learned Yiddish and did not grow up with it. I think the only way is to be around people who speak it and hear it spoken. You can use grammar books to help with grammar.

I was not saying anything is wrong with a nanny I was saying that it is wrong to have a shiksa nanny. When I said Spanish I was saying it in a joking way meaning that they are a mexican shiksa. But of course I hold it is better to speak Yiddish.

“They all have nannies, who speak minimal English I might add. “

What do they speak, Spanish, Ebonics or Yiddish? If Yiddish I don’t see a problem I would rather a kid heard Yiddish then English but I have heard of people leaving their kids with goyish babysitters and I think it is so bad. Why would you leave your baby with a goyte who could be secretly feeding your kid chazir and playing their disgusting music around them? I am all for learning but If you are learning in kolel while leaving your kid with a goyte I think their is something very wrong with you!!!

There is such a minhag for a bucher to wear tefillin Chol Hamoed. The Satmar Rebbe ZT”L held that bucherim should wear tefillin, when I was a bucher I put on tefillin at home W/O a brucha. It is based on Tzanzer Ruv ZT”L who held a bucher should not do anything that has to do with kabuleh. He also held that a bucher should daven nisach ashkenaz but that is not done today. As far as talking I know the Mishneh brira says not to talk devurim betailim with tefillin. I have seen people who lift up the shel rosh if they need to talk.

Can someone answer me why in the frum community people protect pedophiles? I can’t understand why a normal frum kid would actually lie about someone molesting them. a normal frum kid does not start learning about things until a little before their chasina so why would they just make this up? and by Chasidim a bucher does not learn the first perek of kesivis and alot of yevumos or other gemuras that talk about such things. I don’t think any frum kid would just make up such a thing, so why are they not believed and the pedophile is protected most of the time?

I know a kuten is not kusher l’aidis but is this a thing that would require 2 aidim? is there a problem with mesirah here. I want to hear a daas Torah opinion and not just stam feelings. This is also one of the things why kids go OTD.

Working hard, I think that is a shame that peole use their money for vacations and nice new fancy cars with fancy houses instead of using it for what is really important, schar limid for their children. Most families in brooklyn have beautiful houses. I am happy in my small appartment I don’t need a big fancy house. I don’t have any kids yet so a small apartment is enough but when I will need to move I don’t want a fancy house it is not going to come with me after a hindert in tzvontzik only the Torah and Mitzvos will so that is what is really important. I would much rather have a sheina esrog or nice sefarim, the best mehidurdike tefillin. Schar limid is very important to pay the rebbes who teach our children Torah. Even though I think most of the rebbes are not so qualified to be teaching the Torah when they are not so erlich don’t follow everything that it says and should be driving the school buses instead. Last year I was at a Yeshiva and one of the Rebbes was a chiyiv and needed to daven mincha for the amid, so they made a minyan for him made up of rebbes and menahalim of the yeshiva. I was so disgusted at what I saw, rebbes davening shemone esrei in 1 minute and afterwards walking around with their phones texting while walking in front of other people who were still davening shemone esrei. ( how can you daven with kavuneh, derech tachninim and everything else that you need in shemoneh esrei in 1 minute. and when you finish and go back 3 steps you need to stay in your place until kedisha not walking around) I know people are not perfect and if this would have been one of the bus drivers of the yeshiva it would not have bothered me as much but if you are going to be a rebbe and teaching Torah then pratice what you preach or go become a bus driver or the yeshivas manager over the goyim who clean, people wonder why there are so many kids OTD.

First of all is we must realize that there is a difference between Eretz Yisruel and Medinas Yisruel so when you hear someone say “Israel is terrible” They mean the “Zionist State of Israel” not “the Holy Land of Israel” If you want to know why it is so terrible visit JewsagainstZionism.com they explain it very nicely.

I have not read all 20 pages of this but I would like to add my opinion. I am a ger and recognize that the frum community is messed up. I don’t blame any OTD kids because it does not surprise me when a kid goes OTD. Seeing how rov frum people are I can’t understand why a kid would want to be frum. A kid is like a blank piece of paper and you can teach him anything, so if a love of Hashem and Torah is instilled in them from a young age and they see they have erlicher parents who do everything out of Love for Hashem and not just as a burden. A father who learns every extra second he has and who makes erlicher bruchos and not just a shuckel with the lips saying all 10 words in one breath, and talks about Hashem and a mother who dresses tzniusdik and not like rov “frum” women today with their long sheitelech and tight clothing with the skirt barely covering the knee. If I would have known more and had more experience with Frum people I would not had became a ger but now It is my belief in Hashem and Torah and wanting to do his rutzen that keeps me frum, not the frum community.

Also I forgot to mention, being that I am a ger it does not matter how much I learn or how frum I am I will always be “The Ger” and be a second class citizen. People are jealous and don’t like that a goy can become a Yid and become better then them. most people are nice but that is because Hashem commanded 36 times to love a ger and I am just like a lulav or piece of matzo or other thing that is used for a mitzvah. I like to quote the pusek “Hager ashe b’kirvechu yaaleh alechu maala maala v’ atu sereid mata mata because that is what is happening today.( I know that it is talking about a ger toishav but is it is nice teich.)

Health, Puhlease, Don’t worry Hashem has his reasons for things. I am a ger for about 7 years. I came from a state where there are no frum people I had just been learning about Yiddishkeit alone on the internet. When i moved to New York and went to Yeshiva and was megayer (I was megayer at young age) I learned more and more Torah and was around frum people for a while. It bothers me too how messed up the frum community is. For most FFB’s Yiddishkeit is just a habit they grew up with. Hashem is not thought about too often. The “R-A-B-B-I” is just a title in front of the name and means nothing today. most of them don’t “practice want they preach” and are groyser ameratzim. For me I want true Yiddishkeit I can see through the “R-A-B-B-I” and only associate with true Tzadikim who are real talmidei chachumim. It is very disappointing to see what most “frum” people are like. I expected that “frum” people would be better and heiliger but unfortanunley this is not the case. But now we are holding in the ikvis d’meshicha in the olam hasheker. IY”h Moshiach Tzidkeini will come bimhairu b’yumeini umein.

mdd, it says not to show hair but I saw somewhere that it is says also to cut it off before going to the Mikva. also I don’t have a Y.D handy right now but I know in Hilchos Tefillin I think maybe 27 or 28 I don’t remember, I will look it up later but I know it says something about hair being a chatzitza.

Cutting into the peyos unfortunately is a big problem with Chasidim. There are alot whole don’t have a kosher shiur. In Williamburgs most mikvahs have a guy who cuts hair for 7$. Most of them just want the 7$ and don’t care about the shiur. In Pupa on Bedford the guy is very careful and knows the haluchos. I used to get my hair cut there until I moved to Boro Park and now just do it on my own because I don’t trust anyone except for him. I have a bigger shiur then most Chasidim and it looks “extreme” to most of them but it is not worth being oiver on a deoraisa.

Toi, a tuna beigel is no example, they are barely frum usually.

In Boro Park and Williamsburg most men don’t greet each other unless they know each other. I try to say Gut Shabbos to men sometimes they respond sometimes not. I won’t greet a woman.

Chaisidish men shave their heads because hair is klipos. Also long hair is a chatzitza for tefillin. Could someone please tell me a limid zchis why litvish keep a chup (bangs) instead of just cutting everything short, the Mishna Brurah speaks against chups I think but not 100% that it says it in siman 27. It is true that Chasidish women shave their heads. It says in Zohar Hakudosh that women should shave her hair and nails before going in mikvah. another reason I saw is that It says in Zohar Hakudosh that the walls of the house should not see the hair and if so then it is not a good thing and if she is careful then she will have good kids, the mishnah berura brings down this Zohar in siman 75. also if the hair sticks out of the mikvah it is a chatzitza.

Why should a frum girl expect a frum guy to say “gut Shabbos” to her unless they are the type of very modern people who are not Shomer Negia and other mitzvos bewtween men and women and even such a person probably would not expect a “gut shabbos” from a Yeshivish guy with a black hat or a Chusid with a shtreimel and vaser zaken. Also in Brooklyn men usually don’t exchange gut shabbos unless they know each other.

I always buy Golden Flow CY milk and have never had a problem with it going bad too fast.

If you live in New York it is very easy to find CY. Maybe it costs a few dollars more but it is worth it. Fresh and Tasty and Devash is cheaper then Golden Flow, Most of you who complain about the price would buy something that you really really want even if it is a little more expensive so I don’t think that is a good excuse. I really don’t see any excuses in NY for chulav stam. Maybe if you live in the middle of Oklahoma or Kansas somewhere then maybe I can hear an excuse for chulav stam.
