Mussar zogger- If we lived for olam hazeh, you have a question. But the primary world is thie Olam Habah. Do you think they are not getting just and appropriate reward for following Daas Torah whee they are now? Is Hashem punishing or rewarding them for listening?

We need to see the picture from Hashems perspective. I am sure that if we were able to communicate with any of those neshamos, they would choose to stay rather than come down. Like the story of the 2 year old killed by terrorists who came to his mother in a dream.

With Emunah it is all acceptable as is.

When I filtered my water through a filter which was not changed in 8 months it didn’t come out clean. Know why? Because the filter was not pristine and pure. When the Tzadikim filtered songs based on teh Baals Shem Tovs vort of “Kchu Mizimras Haaretz” it was Tzadikim and gedolim filtering, not general public. Know why? Because we need a refined clean untainted pure filter consumed wiht Yiras Shamayim to properly filter. especially for music which is the song of the soul.

Any info which may be seen as negative we must answer when asked, but should not offer info.

Be careful if you are doing the asking- ask DOES HE SMOKE AT ALL? Do not ask IS HE A SMOKER as that is inviting interpretation.. What is a smoker?? cigs, 10? A pack?? Two?? Fell in once…….. and she got married. and he quit.

Ner yisroel with Hopkins or U.of M 50percent more learning per day……Double the learning per week. Almost double the weeks per year. More than double the days per year. YU has 2 14 week semesters including study week. That is 24-26 weeks of learning 5 days a week. Ner isroel has 44 weeks of learning a year 7 days a week. Thats about 300 days for NY vs about 130 for YU. Shabbos in Ner Yisroel is Shabbos. The choice is clear if you want to be a Ben Torah.

GOQ- What about the lofty praise and spiritual accomplishments of those who the Gemara describes as “those who are insulted and do not respond” are compared to Avraham Avinu and the stories of people who having come upon a person who had self control were asked for a Bracha for MAJOR things and it was answered by Hashem?? Is that to belittle or to be inspired by?

See Midrash Tanchuma in NOACH to see why Yeshivos focus on Gemara. The covenant of Torah of Har Sinai is to engage in learning Gemara, not Torah Shebiksav. While we must learn it and know it, if there is limited time we need to focus on what Chazal tell us to learn.

Many of my Rabbaim friends arrange for groups of bachurim to come when their similar age daughters are away for Shabbos. Others actually have the Rebbe and Talmidim eating together and the women at a different table wither in the same or an adjoining room. IT is being done after consulting with prominent Gedolim.

Let’s tone down some of the rhetoric and be a bit more respectful if possible.

People will pay after?? I know many shadchanim (not offical ones) who never saw a penny or even a tah nkk you note. ONe of my chaveirim was a shadchan and they did not even invite him to the wedding!! I was once promised a huge shadchanus if I find a mate for a difficult bachur and BH I did. NOT A DOLLAR or even shaveh peruta. When the girl became ill a year after marriage they called me to blame me and said I hid facts from them. Ingrates!! They never looked in a spiritual mirror to see who to blame. I don’t want anything from them…… but for people who are doing it as a lifes mission, to be guaranteed that the money is there is meaningful.

It looks like it is time for a little Chocvos Halevavos- Shaar Habitachon.. It certainly cheaper and more effective than alcohol….. although it too may be habit forming.

People run far and wide to receive a Bracha form a Tzaddik… Rebbe……. Mekubal. here the Rama promises a Bracha to one who is careful to even drink water in the Succa. If the Rama were alive, how long would the line be to get a Bracha from him??? Here we can get one guaranteed!!!

The brisker Rav probably did not seek Brachos form anyone………..

    Correction:

Mechaber in Orach Chaim 570-3 says if one vows not to eat on Shabbos or Yom Tov, it does not take effect because we have a Torah obligation to eat.In the times of Chazal he would get malkos for an unnecessary vow. If he vowed not to eat on Chanukah or Purim it takes effect because the eating then is only D’Rabanan. The mechaber continues that the same applies to Rosh Chodesh and Erev Yom Kippur. But he syas that the Rambam argues and says that they are dioraysa like Shabbos and Yom Tov so the vow would not take effect.

Sorry, I should have checked the details before posting.

    IT IS NOT A VOW!

The Shulchan Aruch rules that since it is a Mitzvah to eat on Erev Yom Kippur, if you make a vow not to eat then it does not take effect because you are effectively attempting to nullify an existing commandment. Te vow never takes effect.

1- Rabbi Oelbaum form Machon Bais Yaakov always calls teh girls by MIss last name. Zehirus in Tzniyus.

Maybe a girl in the workplace can not use her regular hebrew/affectionate name but use a formal version or even a secular version to be used just in the secular environment…… prevents her form feeling close. Rebbeca instead of Rivka, Judith instead of Yehudis, “Raitchel” instead of Rochel etc………

I know of too many single girls who fell prey to the new fund freedom and excitement of relationship in the workplace………… big time problems……. serious ones……. Enough alluded to. Harchakos are in order.

BTW at the end of his responsa Reb Moshe writes “and the GD fearing person shall be stringent”. If there is a time in the year we want to clue in to be a GD fearing person it probably is the time between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. In addition, whatever mystical quality is created by sticking to Cholov and Pas Yisroel probably affects the way we aspire in a spiritual sphere and be sticking to Cholov Yisroel during this time we may find ourselves pulled more to see ourselves as spiritual beings and make the serious changes in areas of Lashon Hara, davening, commitment to learning etc……

Heels may be uncomfortable and unhealthy. Many do not like them. You want someone to be uncomfortable for you?

Why don’t you look from her perspective……. he knew I am 5-3 and he agreed to go out…. finally a person who cares about who I am and not my height! Surely if he was hung up on height he would not have agreed to this!

My Rebbi used to say that his father frequently told his short family that height is measured from the shoulders up.

    re alum pans hechsher

Some are coated with a thin layer of fat or grease which may be of non kosher origin. The standard recommendation is to rinse out with soap and water before using thereby ridding that pan of that layer. A hechsher means that there is no such problem with that brand of aluminum pan.
